Signage is crucial in creating a welcoming and informative environment for residents and visitors alike. Currently, our Shire has a mismatch of signs from different stages throughout its history. This inconsistent signage sends mixed and confusing messages to travellers on entry to our LGA, reducing the sense of connection between our towns and villages.
The Parkes Shire Signage and Wayfinding project intends to create a cohesive and straightforward application for all town signage throughout the Shire, instilling a sense of belonging and communicating important messages to the community and visitors.
Parkes Shire Council has collaborated with Moir Landscape Architecture to develop the DRAFT Parkes Shire Signage Manual(PDF, 45MB). This manual is the first stage in our broader Signage and Wayfinding Strategy and will guide the design and placement of new, consistent signage throughout our Shire.
