Council wishes to advise that the pool rectification works which are being undertaken to address the lining issues at the Tullamore pool has experienced delays larger than originally anticipated due to an increase in scope. The planned works included removing and replacement of the clearcoat within the pool, as during last year's pool season it was reported that the coating was failing, floating in the pool providing an undesirable swimming environment and causing issues with the filtration system.
Works commenced at Tullamore Pool on the 9th September 2024, and upon commencing preparations of the pool shell further defective work was identified with fibre glassing and grouting within the pool joints. The subsequent variation price was significant, and Parkes Council engaged an independent structural engineer to assess the validity of the claim and proposed treatment solution to ensure a permanent fix was being undertaken. This process, coupled with the increased scope of works now has anticipated completion date of Wednesday 23rd October 2024 and allowing for curing of the shell and filling of the pool and water treatment, the pool is anticipated to be opened on Saturday 9th November 2024, inclusive of wet-weather contingencies.
As an interim measure, Belgravia Leisure have offered free pool entry into the other facilities managed by them being Parkes, Dubbo and Wellington upon providing proof of residence at Tullamore.
We appreciate your patience in ensuring the facility is completed to a high-standard and we apologise for any inconvenience.
