Council wishes to advise contractors for the NSW Governments Department of Planning and Environment will be undertaking leak detection testing around the shire for a month. The works commenced Monday 24/04/2023.
Phase 2 of the Regional Network Leak Detection Project is part of the NSW government's $12.5 million Regional Leakage Reduction Program which has already seen more than 2,700 kilometers of water mains surveyed and more than 930 leaks found, saving councils over a billion litres of lost water this year alone.
The contractors will be using equipment to detect underground leaks, even if they are not visible. They will be walking around and setting up traffic management as needed for detecting leaks in the watermain, please drive slowly if you notice them. Water may be turned off at the meter for a couple of minutes if they detect a leak nearby, to help pinpoint the leak location.
