The revitalisation of Trundle’s Main Street and the opening of the town’s new community gym in the Trundle Memorial Hall were officially celebrated in a special ceremony early on January 26, ahead of Australia Day celebrations at Berryman Oval.

This transformative project was made possible through the collaboration of Parkes Shire Council, the NSW Government, and the local community. Council secured a significant grant of $945,400 from the NSW Government’s Your High Street program, complemented by a $100,000 contribution from Sunrise Energy Metals (formerly Clean TeQ) through a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA).

In attendance was Member for Orange Phil Donato, Parkes Shire Mayor Cr Neil Westcott, Australia Day Ambassador Tasman Cassim, Deputy Mayor Cr Marg Applebee, Cr Louise O'Leary, Cr Joy Paddison, Cr Doug Pout, Trundle CCC president Peter Kelly, Parkes Shire Council Director Operations Logan Hignett, and many dedicated local volunteers and community members.

Member for Orange Phil Donato congratulated the Trundle community and Parkes Shire Council on delivering 'magnificent' upgrades and acknowledged the great work that Trundle has been doing to enhance its town.

"Creating a vibrant and enthusiastic place to live, work, and raise a family - it's really important," said Mr. Donato.

Mr. Donato also outlined recent funding for Trundle under the NSW and Federal governments combined flood recovery funding including $636,000 for Berryman Oval under the Community Assets Program to repair the carpark, raise the pool pump shed, install a new pump, and upgrade the tennis courts. He also acknowledged the additional $5.65M of funding under the Regional Transport Resilience Fund which will help mitigate the impact of flooding on the transport link to Trundle township.

Parkes Shire Mayor, Cr Neil Westcott, said the enthusiastic participation of the Trundle community was invaluable.

"Their ideas and solutions shaped this project and has helped to make the main street a thriving hub for connection and community spirit," Cr Westcott said.

The revitalisation of the main street included the installation of a pedestrian crossing to improve safety and accessibility, the addition of beautiful new tree plantings, and the creation of a community hub designed for gatherings and events.

These improvements have enhanced the street’s appeal, encouraging both residents and travellers to enjoy the area and fostering increased business activity for local shopfronts.

Peter Kelly from Trundle Community Consultative Committee thanked all the tireless volunteers for their support and work on this project.

"It's projects like these that keep people staying in their town, it’s the people who make the community, and we're really thankful that projects like this are made possible," he said.

The revitalisation of Trundle’s Main Street and the addition of the community gym reflect Parkes Shire Council’s commitment to enhancing liveability and supporting vibrant, connected communities across the region.
