Cr. Doug Pout was elected as a Councillor in the 2024 elections. He looks forward to serving his first term on Council and bringing a fresh perspective.
Doug moved to Parkes as a young boy and his family has had strong ties to the area for generations. He attended school in Parkes, played on multiple local sporting teams and has been actively involved in local charities and fundraising events over the years.
After a successful career in hospitality, where he managed and worked in hotels and clubs, Doug made a significant career change in 2018 to the disability sector. He currently works full-time at Currajong Disability Services, Parkes, as the Day Service Program Coordinator, supporting community members with additional needs. In this role, Doug has built strong relationships with diverse groups and organised inclusive events, including the successful Regional All Abilities Swimming Carnival. He has also expanded his skills by completing a Certificate IV in Community Services through Verto.
Doug is passionate about building inclusivity and increasing accessibility for people who may not always have a voice. He has a strong focus on community needs and is committed to improving facilities and services throughout the Shire.
Doug is married to Courtney; a local primary school teacher and they share their time with their beloved dalmatian. Doug is eager to bring his experience and passion to the Council, ensuring every voice in the community is heard and valued.
